Egg Theatre

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that this company operates in Vancouver, BC, on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Vancouver is located on territory that was never ceded, or given up to the Crown by the Musqueam, Squamish, or Tsleil-Waututh peoples. The term unceded acknowledges the dispossession of the land and the inherent rights that Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh hold to the territory. The term serves as a reminder that Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh have never left their territories and will always retain their jurisdiction and relationships with the territory.

Our Story

Egg Theatre was founded by Michelle Martin in Calgary, Alberta in 1995.  Our mandate is to produce works of theatre that inspire, challenge and captivate audiences.  Our first production was To Hear With Eyes by Michelle Martin at Calgary’s One Yellow Rabbit High Performance Rodeo.  The company then presented Daniel MacIvor’s See Bob Run at One Yellow Rabbit and Workshop West Theatre in Edmonton.  We presented John Patrick Shanely’s Four Dogs and a Bone at Havana Theatre in Vancouver in 2012.  Michelle Martin’s new original one-woman show, i carry your heart with me, will be presented at the 2023 Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver Fringe Festivals.
